About ArtisStone
My name is Rick Alpen. I am the owner, operator and concrete artist of ArtisStone. I began building limestone mantels while working in the fireplace industry. This was the beginning of my journey on a path that led me to the decorative concrete industry and the business I enjoy today.
Established In May of 2007. ArtisStone, is a Vancouver Island company offers unique and decorative concrete products and services. Using a wide variety of specialized formulas, tools and techniques, I design and create a multitude of decorative concrete products.
WHAT is ArtisStone?
LimeStone Coatings is one of the specialized products I offer. Although not limited to, fireplace mantels represent the bulk of the projects in which this product is used. This coating can be applied over any stable substrate to create many other unique features as seen in the LimeStone Gallery. Hand Carved Concrete is where my passion lies. This segment of the decorative concrete market is extremely versatile and endless in its creative possibilities. I can create almost anything from hand carved concrete including water features, synthetic concrete boulders, sculptures and garden furniture. Cast Concrete Products are concrete that is simply cast in the molds made of melamine or urethane rubber. I use this technique for creating products like countertops, vanity tops, outdoor kitchens and some patio furniture. Samples of my cast concrete designs can be viewed in the Cast Concrete Gallery.
GFRC Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete is also normally cast into molds. GFRC is as it sounds, concrete that is heavily reinforced with AR glass fibers to give it strength. It is cast much thinner than regular concrete making it much lighter.

WHERE is ArtisStone?
I am based in the Qualicum Beach area on beautiful Vancouver Island B.C. I work on decorative concrete projects either in my shop or at clients' home or business anywhere in southern B.C.

I provide no charge, no obligation, in home consultations. Together we can design your project and I can answer any questions you may have. I provide the same service to out-of-town and long-distance clients primarily through email.
Most importantly, I pride myself in customer satisfaction. I believe in completing all projects on time, at the quoted price, using the best possible products and to the very best of my abilities. With client involvement each project becomes a truly unique piece of art.
